Sometimes, locomotives do not provide sufficient space to integrate a motor, so the locomotive isn’t able to move by its own. What helps, is a so called “ghost wagon”, a train car with enough space to integrate a motor and if needed a battery box. This wagon will push the locomotive then and it seems the locomotive is pulling the wagon.
Additionally, such a “ghost wagon” could be used to have additional traction for long or heavy trains, where the locomotive alone has issues to pull the train.
The ghost wagon is motorized with two train motors and is equipped with four bricks with extra weight (73090b, 2x6x2). So, the wagon is powerful and heavy enough to move not only a locomotive, but also an entire train with several wagons.
