Electric Locomotive BR250 (version 2)

Updated: Jun 9, 2023

This MOC is a re-build of my own BR250 some time ago (MOC-61180). The new version has some modifications, amended details (e.g., moveable pantographs) and the dimensions are more realistic. Compared to the old version, the new BR250 is about four studs longer and one brick higher and so, it comes quite close to the scale 1:43 (minifig scale).

About the original locomotive:

The BR250 is an electric locomotive of the „heavy duty“ class. Means, it was used on long and heavy cargo trains, but also on Passenger trains, for example the Staedte-Express (City-Express). I build the version of the Deutsche Reichsbahn, the railway where it was originally in operation. The original is a mighty thing, and this is also reflected in the MOC. The "monster" is 58.9 studs long, 8 studs wide (9.4 with door handles), 16.4 studs high and its proportions come very close to the original. The MOC weighs 1,330 grams, consists of 1,601 parts and is fully able to pass curves and turnouts of R40 tracks. Cornering in the tight Lego radii is of course visually borderline, but technically possible, even in these dimensions.

The MOC as shown is equipped with one train motor (bb0896c01). With the weight of the model, soon you will reach its limits. I recommend equipping the locomotive with two train motors. Hints you will find in the instruction provided.

MOC stats:

Length: 58.9 studs

Width: 9.4 studs

Height: 16.4 studs

Weight: 1.3 kg

Parts: 1601

I provide a detailed step-by-step building instruction. At the end of it, you find an overview of all needed parts.

A print-ready sticker sheet is available too (in case the model contains stickers). I provide it in the widely used PDF-format in high-resolution and print-ready.

Furthermore, I provide the parts list in Excel format. This makes it easy to filter out needed parts and create order lists.

Upon request, I can provide the physical stickers for the model, complete with kiss-cut. The shipping of the stickers is under your own risk and will be sent via non-registered mail to keep the cost on a reasonable level. The sticker sheet will be cut to fit in a smaller envelope. The cost for the sticker service will be additional USD 45.00.

Disclaimer: I am not responsible for any damages or injury on parts and humans happen while following my instructions. Everything you do is your responsibility and under your personal risk.
