Diesel Locomotive BR132 of the Deutsche Reichsbahn (version 1)

Updated: Jun 9, 2023

Finally completed, my version of the BR132 of the Deutsche Reichsbahn.

The BR132 was a heavy duty diesel locomotive, pulling long cargo trains but also passenger trains thanks to the electrical heater the locomotive is equipped with.

The BR132 belongs to the BR130 family. There are 4 different variants: BR130, BR131, BR132 and BR142. All look similar but eagle eyes can spot the differences easily. If you want to know more about this beautiful locomotive, this is a first taste: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DR_Class_130_family

As I mentioned above already, my model represents the BR132 variant of the Deutsche Reichsbahn, capable to pull cargo as well as passenger trains. As the original, the model has six axles. To ensure a smooth passing of the tight Lego® curves and turnouts, the middle axle is moveable.

The MOC stats:

Length: 53.1 studs

Width: 8 studs (with door handle 8.9)

Height: 13.2 studs

Weight: 984 grams

Parts: 1,527

I provide a detailed step-by-step building instruction. At the end of it, you find an overview of all needed parts.

A print-ready sticker sheet is available too (in case the model contains stickers). I provide it in the widely used PDF-format in high-resolution and print-ready.

Furthermore, I provide the parts list in Excel format. This makes it easy to filter out needed parts and create order lists.

Disclaimer: I am not responsible for any damages or injury on parts and humans happen while following my instructions. Everything you do is your responsibility and under your personal risk.

Note:

I re-designed the model already, because this one was too short in comparison to other locomotives. I still keep it here, because the model has a the better length when it come to the tight R40 radii. The re-designed longer version of the BR132 (version 2) can pass R40 as well, but it looks a bit weird due to the huge overhang in the curves.

To talk about a scale with "Lego" bricks is quite a challenge actually. Also, the locomotive is lengthwise a compromise to allow passing R40 radii. If you really looking for a more proper scaled one, please check my REBRICKABLE page: LEGO MOC (re-designed) Diesel Locomotive BR132 of the Deutsche Reichsbahn (re-designed) by langemat | Rebrickable - Build with LEGO. This version is without motor. If you want to motorize the "true-scale" version, please have a look on the following link. The motorization explained for this model works for the long version as well: LEGO MOC BR132 motorized by langemat | Rebrickable - Build with LEGO

Let me know if your question is still not answered.
