Diesel Engine EMD GP40 of Union Pacific Railroad

The EMD GP40 is a 4-axle diesel-electric locomotive built by General between April 1972 and December 1986. The total production of the GP40 and its variations is 1,143 units for various railroad companies in US, Canada and Mexico.

My MOC shows the GP40 from Union Pacific Railroad in its typical Armour Yellow and Harbormist Gray colour scheme with red strip in between. The model is equipped with two train motors (part 87574c01) and for more traction with three extra weight bricks (part 73090b). The locomotive is able to pass any curve and turnout down to R40. It is an 8w design but due to the side handrails it is almost 10w.

MOC stats:

Length: 50.2 studs, 402mm

Width: 9.8 studs, 78mm (with side handrails)

Height: 13.6 studs, 109mm

Weight: 951g

Parts: 1140

I provide a detailed step-by-step building instruction. At the end of it, you find an overview of all needed parts.

A print-ready sticker sheet is available too (in case the model contains stickers). I provide it in the widely used PDF-format in high-resolution and print-ready.

Furthermore, I provide the parts list in Excel format. This makes it easy to filter out needed parts and create order lists.

Disclaimer: I am not responsible for any damages or injury on parts and humans happen while following my instructions. Everything you do is your responsibility and under your personal risk.
